GSABJ announces winners for 2007 awards

SHREWSBURY – The Garden State Association of Black Journalists announced today the winners of the 2007 Journalism awards contest.
The Star-Ledger of Newark led the way with five winners in the print categories and the Record of Hackensack had the second-most winners with two. The Asbury Park Press in Neptune and the Jersey Journal in Jersey City each had an individual winner.
News 12 New Jersey in Edison swept the television categories and the Trentonian’s L.A. Parker was selected as GSABJ’s Journalist of the Year.
“This year’s entries strongly exemplified well-written and well-produced stories about the lives of African-Americans living in New Jersey,” said GSABJ president Sherlon Christie, a sports reporter at the Asbury Park Press in Neptune.
