students gain practical, hands-on experience in a busy newsroom.
CNBC encourages journalism, cinema/TV, communications and business
students to apply for the program. Internships are offered in the
fall, spring and summer semesters. The internship is open only to
students enrolled in an accredited college or university. The
internships are unpaid and solely for college credit.
Interns work with
producers, reporters and photographers in the
bureau, located in Universal City. Interns are required to work a
minimum of two days a week. Interested students should email

NPR's Ombudsman develops, communicates and upholds the highest standards
of editorial integrity to assure fairness, balance and accuracy in NPR
journalistic ethics. This key position in public radio acts as arbiter
of fairness, balance and accuracy in news reporting,
operating independently from NPR News. The Ombudsman will articulate
NPR standards of journalistic ethics, both domestically and internationally
as a leader in the global journalistic communities; act as an arbiter
of Cultural Programming insofar as those programs address
issues of a journalistic nature; and provide leadership to the public
radio system on matters of news ethics and standards. The Ombudsman maintains
outside relationships with member stations and other organizations in
matters related to journalistic integrity; and s/he writes and speaks
on matters of journalistic standards, including, but not limited to,
regular reports on NPR Digital Media and other programs, and appearances
at regional public radio conferences. The Ombudsman also performs leadership
activities such as hiring, training, and developing departmental staff.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, although a Master's in Broadcast
Journalism is highly desirable. Incumbent ideally will have approximately
10 years full-time professional
experience, or exceptional achievement in journalism; broadcast experience,
particularly in radio, highly desirable; and incumbent must have a record
of strong leadership and have demonstrated the highest journalistic and
personal integrity. Must be able to represent NPR to the broader public
and articulate the mission of NPR news.
